In the '90s, a chilling mystery gripped Lisbon when 22-year-old Maria Valentina was discovered lying in a pool of her own blood behind a shed.

She had been strangled, disembowelled and was missing her heart, liver, intestines and genitalia.

Police launched their inquiry, stating they had never encountered a victim left in such a horrific condition "in over 30 years".

Officers identified her as a sex worker known to battle addiction issues, but couldn't uncover any leads pointing to the culprit.
