Millions of workers on minimum wage can get a secret extra pay rise worth £277k – and anyone above 22 can do it.

Anyone aged between 22 and Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) state pension age, who earns more than £10,000 a year with a single company is automatically signed up to a pension.

Under the scheme, you’ll pay 5% of your income straight into pensions, and your employer will pay 3%, essentially adding free money to your savings. Workers working an average 37.5 hour week would currently earn £457.
