There were lots of leftovers that holiday: Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, pumpkin pie and a ridiculous amount of snow.

As Beacon Journal readers share random memories about growing up in Northeast Ohio, we begin today with Ronald Syroid, 79, who reminded us that it’s the 75th anniversary of the 1950 Thanksgiving blizzard.

The weather forecast called for flurries on the evening of Nov. 23. Instead, an unexpected storm clobbered Northeast Ohio, dumping 25 inches of snow, plunging temperatures near zero, whipping winds up to 40 mph and halting travel for hundreds of miles.
