A woman who suffered a quadruple amputation has undergone a successful hand transplant - and revealed how she is now left-handed.

Kim Smith, 64, was on holiday in Alicante, Spain, in 2017 when she contracted an infection and then developed sepsis. She ended up losing her limbs and was subsequently placed on a UK waiting list for a double hand transplant.

Now Kim has undergone a 14-hour long double hand transplant operation in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Sadly the right hand was not successful, however Kim, who was previously right-handed, has spoken of her delight at now having a new, functioning hand - and how she has naturally become left-handed.
