An Australian tourist has caused a furore after drinking an alcoholic offering made to a victim in Japan's infamous "suicide forest" . The move has caused a wave of outrage in Japan, but has now spiralled into other questions around tourism.

Sydney influencer Lochie Jones triggered the major backlash when he uploaded a video to Instagram where he drank the offering left at the site of a grave in the forest. Since then, Jones has received a torrent of abuse branding his actions entirely disrespectful.
