COVINGTON, Ky. — The City of Covington is asking residents to keep broken or unwanted holiday lights out of the landfill by taking part in its annual recycling program.

Starting Dec. 1 and continuing through Feb. 28, Covington will collect all types of string lights, both incandescent and LED, at four drop-off locations. The program, run in partnership with Cohen Recycling, is meant to give residents a simple way to dispose of nonworking lights.

Cohen will also accept other electric holiday decorations, including projectors and motors from inflatable yard displays, at any of its recycling centers.
