With Lane Kiffin headed to LSU to coach the Tigers, Ole Miss will turn to a new coach to lead it in the College Football Playoff.
Defensive coordinator Pete Golding will work as the interim coach for Ole Miss during the 2025 College Football Playoff, which is a big deal for the former Alabama defensive coordinator.
Golding has experience working under college football legend Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. His first game as interim coach will indeed be in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Golding oversaw the defense before his interim elevation. If he's able to win a national title, he would likely solidify himself as the permanent coach in Oxford. Even if he doesn't, he's still reportedly a candidate for the main job.
Update: Golding is reportedly in line to be the permanent replacement to Kiffin.
