CHICAGO (WLS) -- The clock is ticking for the Chicago City Council to pass a budget by the end of the year, or face a possible government shutdown.

Earlier this month, the city council finance committee voted against Mayor Brandon Johnson's proposed $16.6 billion plan.

It calls for a corporate head tax that would require Chicago companies with more than 200 employees to pay a "head tax." Critics, including Governor Pritzker, call that a job killer. The mayor's budget proposal also includes others ways of generating revenue.
