A man is dead after he fell overboard from a luxury yacht.

At around 11:40 a.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 30, HM Coastguard was alerted that a man fell into the English Channel off the coast of Newhaven, a spokesperson for Sussex Police told PEOPLE.

"A search led by the Coastguard was carried out, and a body was recovered from the sea," the police representative said.

Authorities added that "the man has been identified and his next of kin have been informed."
