OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - Ole Miss is promoting Defensive Coordinator Pete Golding as its next head coach, according to multiple reports.

Initially, Golding was expected to serve as the interim head coach for the Rebels’ CFP run, but the school has decided to make the move permanent.

The quick decision to permanently promote Golding is likely due to the NCAA Early Signing Day coming up on December 3-5.

Golding was hired as the new defensive coordinator at Ole Miss in 2023 after serving five years under Nick Saban at Alabama.

In 2024, Golding led the Rebels’ defense to one of its best statistical seasons in the school’s history.
