DETROIT. (WILX) - DeWitt football captured its second state title with a dominant 54-20 victory over Mt. Pleasant in the Division 3 state championship game at Ford Field in Detroit.
It’s the Panthers’ second state title after winning their first in 2020.
Senior quarterback Traverse Moore had 32 carries for 397 yards and four touchdowns while completing four of eight passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. Moore’s 397 rushing yards set an MHSAA state championship game record. Sophomore running back Channing Ridley had 10 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
DeWitt scored touchdowns on its first six drives, beginning with Moore rushing for touchdowns of 30 and 33 yards to put the Panthers up 13-0 early in the first quarter.
