A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck Saturday night by another vehicle in the Waipahu area.
At about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, a 44-year-old man and his juvenile passenger were traveling westbound on Malakeke Street in a vehicle and cut into the eastbound lane of traffic in attempt to overtake another vehicle but then struck a 19-year-old man on an electric motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time the collision.
The male driver and his passenger remained at the scene. They were not injured.
Police said speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
