A train company has issued a warning to passengers travelling to and from Manchester on some services tomorrow - with people urged to check their journeys before they travel due to expected bad weather.

The latest Met Office weather forecast for Manchester predicts heavy rain from around 10pm on Sunday night. This is expected to continue throughout Monday before easing off in the evening.

Now TransPennine Express has warned some of its trains may be disrupted. Trains between Manchester and major cities in Scotland may be affected.

A TransPennine Express spokesperson said: "Due to the forecast of bad weather tomorrow, we are advising customers to check their journey before travel. Services between Manchester and Glasgow/Edinburgh, in both directions, may be disrupted."
