KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In 2015, two women from Knoxville went on a trip with a nonprofit group, One Vision International, to teach other women in the Dominican Republic how to sew, giving them an opportunity to help make an income for their families.
And now, one way these women make money is through selling handmade Christmas ornaments.
"It's called the Artesanas Sewing Program ," Rachel Cox, One Vision International's Dominican Republic and Brazil director, said. "It grew from teaching ladies a skill that they could use, to really a whole ministry and a life of its own."
Founded in 2004, One Vision International is a faith-based nonprofit based in Knoxville that works with people in the Dominican Republic, Brazil and the Middle East.
