SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Three people were arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting the occupants of a South Berwick home during a burglary attempt, South Berwick police said.
Officers responded to a home on Punkintown Road in the early morning hours. On the way, they learned suspects had entered the home and were assaulting the people inside, according to a news release from the South Berwick Police Department.
An officer requested assistance from nearby agencies while enroute, the release said.
The suspects left the scene before officers arrived but were later found in a vehicle and taken into custody, police said.
