Even though the Lane Kiffin news is dominating the headlines, there's another school making major changes to its college football program.
On Sunday, Michigan State University made the decision to fire head football coach Jonathan Smith after two seasons with the Spartans.
Michigan State dropped eight of its last nine games and finished 4-8 , including a 1-8 record in the Big Ten. Based on reports over the past few weeks, it wasn't a matter of if but when the school would let Smith go. He had a 9-15 record during his two seasons with the team, and he was 4-14 in the Big Ten. The Spartans will pay him $33 million as part of his buyout.
