CHICO, Calif. - Starting Sunday, Chico police began issuing tickets to drivers caught running red lights at the intersection of Mangrove Avenue and East Ninth Street.
The Chico Police Department shared on Facebook that more than 1,200 people were recently recorded committing red-light violations at four different intersections in Chico.
They stated that up until this point, drivers who failed to fully stop, even when turning right, only received warnings.
Now, violators will face a $465 fine if caught running a red light at any of the four planned red-light camera intersections.
The police also mentioned that a red-light camera at Notre Dame Boulevard and Skyway is still under construction. They have not yet started issuing warnings or generating statistics at that location.
