LOUISVILLE, Ky. — New bodycam video shows Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) officers running into a burning home earlier this year to save a child’s life.
It’s a call that no officer ever forgets, LMPD shared in a social media post on Thursday.
"A house fire with children trapped inside," the department added.
The fire happened in March, and when officers arrived on scene, the Rayburn family’s home was already engulfed in flames, smoke billowing out into the sky.
“Without hesitation, Officers Capito and Richardson charged into the inferno,” LMPD said.
The two officers worked together to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and find the missing boy who was still inside.
A courageous neighbor stepped up to help as well, LMPD said, climbing through a broken bedroom window to hand
