The Washington Commanders picked up where they left off on the ground with a six yard gain on first down and a wide open Zach Ertz for a big gain on second down to get across midfield after just two plays. He went to Ertz again to get into field goal range on just three plays. Ertz had 75 yards receiving already in the game up to that point.
Marcus Mariota then kept it himself for a massive run outside to the Broncos 17-yard line. After a short gain on the ground, Ja’Quan McMillian blew up a screen pass for a short loss to bring up a third and nine. Mariota then connected with Terry McLaurin over the middle for a first down and a first and goal at the three yard line.
