Cities across the Kansas City metro are preparing for the season’s first measurable snowfall expected Monday.

The city says Monday trash, recycling and brush pickup will be delayed until Tuesday. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said Sunday night the city’s snow command center will support smoother winter operations.

In Merriam, Kansas, public works crews plan to hit the streets at 4 a.m. Monday to ensure drivers have a safer morning commute.

City leaders remind drivers to slow down and give themselves extra time.

Public works crews in Grandview will begin pre-treating major routes at 6 a.m. and then plow as snow accumulates, working 12-hour shifts.
