EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene Police and Eugene-Springfield Fire rescue teams worked for several hours Sunday afternoon to rescue a trespassing suspect from a 32-inch drainage pipe spanning 300 feet. Officials said he came out a little disoriented.
“We had to pull him out,” Eugene Police Patrol Lieutenant Watch Commander Mike Ware said. “He didn't want to come out.”
The suspect came out the tunnel without a shirt on, ESF put a blanket on him as he was strapped to a gurney going into an ambulance.
According to Eugene Police, the man, wanted for trespassing and other warrants, ran from police at around 2:30pm Sunday afternoon and into the drainage pipe from Northwest Expressway.
After running into the pipe, a pepper-like gas was sprayed into the tunnel to try and get the suspect out. Police were
