Nov 30 (Reuters) - Conservative National Party candidate Nasry Asfura leads the Honduran presidential election with 34% of votes counted, according to the country’s electoral authority.
Nasry Asfura, 67, is a former mayor of Tegucigalpa and the candidate backed by U.S. President Donald Trump. His party’s last president, Juan Orlando Hernández (2014-2022), is serving a sentence in the U.S. on drug trafficking charges.
Whichever candidate wins a simple majority will govern the country between 2026 and 2030.
