Motability Scheme cuts have managed to seep into the Labour Party Budget after beginning as a rightwing online campaign, it has been revealed.

In her Budget last week, Chancellor Rachel Reeves said it “was set up to protect the most vulnerable, not to subsidise the lease on a Mercedes-Benz”. The Labour Party Budget came a month on from Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative Party leader, pledging to tackle the scheme, which gives people on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) access to cars.

The Tories ' leader promised to “restrict Motability vehicles to people with serious disabilities”. Ms Badenoch told the Tory conference: “Those cars are not for people with ADHD [attention deficit hyperactivity disorder].”
