HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - High winds caused chaos at Aloha Stadium Swap Meet Sunday, which sent tents flying and seriously injured a woman.

Video shows strong gusts of wind, the moment shoppers began to run for cover as several large tents were upended and flew through a section of the swap meet.

The gusts were likely caused by what’s commonly known as a dust devil, when winds are light and warm air on the ground rises rapidly and begins to spin.

“One by one, people’s tents were starting to come off the frame, and then the frame started to lift up as well so it was very chaotic because people’s merchandise was flying everywhere,” one witness said, “people’s cars were getting smashed, people were getting hit in the head by poles.”
