Urbandale wants its own ZIP code. Here's why:

Urbandale is asking Congress for its own unique ZIP code after what city leaders describe as years of confusion and delays caused by having six different mailing codes inside its 22-square-mile boundaries.

Two House bills would authorize the U.S. Postal Service to create 74 new ZIP codes nationwide, including one for Urbandale. A companion bill is pending in the Senate.
