Iwish no young pup ever had to be pulled away from a nurturing mother and abandoned in a harsh and empty stretch of land. Yet countless people still leave vulnerable little ones behind without a trace of empathy.

Cactus was just a tiny newborn when he and his littermates were left in the Mojave Desert in California.

With no mother to comfort them, the pups pressed close to one another for warmth and reassurance. Their bodies shivered from hunger and cold, and before long their fragile health began to falter.

Pups Without Borders , a rescue that focuses on expectant dogs and nursing families, stepped in and transported the siblings to safety.

From that moment forward, their fight to stay alive began.
