A well-known restaurant that went 'viral' for its response to negative reviews is set to close before Christmas.

Smokin' Joe's in Guisborough will shut its doors for the final time on December 21, owner Joseph Smith has announced.

In an emotional social media video he told customers: "With a heavy heart I have got to announce Smokin' Joe's Guisborough will be closing on December 21. So the 21st of this month will be our last day ever trading out of Smokin' Joe's in Guisborough.

"To be honest, this has taken a while to come to this decision.

"I do believe it is for the best, and it has taken a lot to process it, you know, it is not an easy decision to make at all."

Opened on Fountain Street in Guisborough in March 2022, the store went 'viral' over its response to bad reviews as well
