Barrick Mining Corp. is exploring an initial public offering of its North American gold assets as the Canadian mining company grapples with operational issues and cost blowouts.
The company’s board unanimously authorized management to explore an IPO of a unit that would be anchored by Barrick’s joint venture interests in Nevada Gold Mines and Pueblo Viejo, as well as Barrick’s wholly owned Fourmile gold discovery in Nevada.
The new company would list a small minority interest, the company said in a statement Monday.
