The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed plans announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves in the Autumn Budget to ‘make health and disability benefits more sustainable in the future’. ‌

In the latest issue of the Touchbase newsletter, DWP listed all the key changes for people on benefits. This includes increasing the number of face-to-face assessments across Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) to “ensure people are receiving the right support”. ‌

The UK Government said it will also increase WCA reassessments capacity and reduce PIP recipients being called for award review when their function has not improved. The DWP also confirmed most working age and disability benefits will rise by 3.8 per cent from April. ‌
