After Kiki Paré moved to New Orleans to begin her freshman year at Tulane University School of Medicine, one of her neighbors told her about a ministry at Trinity Episcopal Church that provides food for those in need.
Trinity’s ministry, called Loaves and the Fishes, was exactly the opportunity Paré was looking for.
“Serving at (Loaves and Fishes) is the best part of my week,” said Paré, a senior at the medical school. “It’s an experience that humbles you and is beautiful way to give back to the community.”
Paré is one of 40 to 60 volunteers who prepare meals for the underserved and unhoused throughout the city. It's a population that's especially on people's minds during the holidays.
Loaves and Fishes was organized in 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
