MACKINAW CITY – In eighth grade, Knox Wilson was ready to make it happen in cross country .
Wilson, along with his Mackinaw City teammates, had a goal of winning the Northern Lakes Conference .
But setbacks do happen, and unfortunately for Wilson, he had one early last season when he suffered a half-torn Achilles injury and was ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
It hurt badly not just for the Comets, who fell short of their goal, but it stung the most for Wilson, who admitted it was difficult not being able to help his teammates.
“It kind of had me in a depression state, I guess you could say,” Wilson said.
But instead of letting the injury linger with him in the offseason, it motivated Wilson, who got healthy and put in the work last summer, logging at least three miles per
