In the heart of Deli Serdang, Indonesia, a young boy named Elda was known not for his achievements, but for his defiance. At just 10 years old, Elda—second of four siblings—lived a simple life with his family, yet his behavior brought deep concern to those who loved him most. He often stayed out late with friends who didn’t attend school, disobeyed his parents, fought with classmates and siblings, and even stole from his mother. Church and school held no interest for him, leaving his parents exhausted and worried.
But hope came in an unexpected form.
One Sunday, the Sunday school teacher at Elda’s church invited him to join her class. Though reluctant, Elda agreed. His first visit was rocky—he used his offering money to buy snacks. The second week, he got into a fight with another child.
