Parenting isn’t easy no matter who you are, and even Alicia Keys needs to “take a breather” sometimes. The “L’aurora/La aurora” singer opened up about why she sometimes needs a break from her kids Egypt, 15, and Genesis, 10, with her producer husband Swizz Beatz, and I’ve never felt more seen.
In a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Keys shared the importance of not projecting our issues on our kids. “Like, naturally, we do have our own triggers, and we do have our own histories and things that we’re working through,” Keys told host Drew Barrymore, per Business Insider. “And so knowing that they’re so pure, you know, knowing that they are a clean slate and a pureness, we can almost take a step and say, ‘Hold on, that’s mine. That’s not theirs. Let me just take a breather.'”
