Slick road conditions early Monday were causing numerous car accidents in the Oklahoma City metro, with officials urging commuters to drive carefully or avoid traveling altogether.
According to the Emergency Medical Services Authority, by 8 a.m. Dec. 1, paramedics had responded to at least 82 traffic accidents and taken 24 patients to local hospitals.
This volume is about 11 times higher than normal, EMSA said.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma County sheriff's office reported "very slick conditions" on various overpasses in the county, including Interstate 40 and Sooner Road and I-40 and Hudiburg Drive.
"Please take it slow if you have to be out there today," the sheriff's office advised.
