A Kansas grandmother's visit to Mexico to attend a destination wedding suddenly turned into a terrifying ordeal.

Barb Prier and her family traveled to Cabo San Lucas for the nuptials in June, per KCTV . On the morning of the wedding day, June 12, she and her sister left their group at the pool and went for a walk along the beach.

The pair were careful to stay on the sand away from the water. “The waves didn’t seem very rough,” Barb recalled.
