The River Institute celebrated a $49,900 grant received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s seed grant program on Friday.

The River Institute says the funding helped to bolster a new program for upper year high school students who are hoping to pursue a career in the environment field, specifically in the water sector.

“Over the last few years, many students in our region lost critical classroom time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in subjects requiring hands-on learning, like science,” said River Institute executive director Dr. Jeff Ridal in a press release.
