CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, of Martinsburg and Inwood, remains in serious condition following a deadly attack in Washington, D.C., but showed encouraging signs as of Monday, Gov. Patrick Morrisey said.

Morrisey said Wolfe was able to respond when a nurse asked him to give a thumbs-up, and he also wiggled his toes.

“These are small but positive steps,” the governor said. “We are hopeful and keeping him in our thoughts and prayers.”
