As federal agents snatched suspected illegal immigrants from the streets and lawns in Chicago neighborhoods these past few weeks, local media set out to discover exactly who all these allegedly dangerous people were.

It took some digging. Many of those grabbed from their jobs in home improvement stores or landscaping companies disappeared. Even their families were kept in the dark.

ICE officials were triumphantly reporting that they had arrested hundreds of illegals, including many of the "worst of the worst" who had criminal records or were carrying illegal firearms. They posed huge threats to the American people, they insisted.
