NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Fortrex, a privately held sanitation contractor that has cleaned Tyson Foods’ Lexington plant since March 2013, told the Nebraska Department of Labor on Nov. 26 that it will end sanitation services at the plant effective Jan. 20, 2026.
In a notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, to the state rapid response coordinator, Fortrex said Tyson Foods unexpectedly terminated the sanitation contract at the Lexington plant.
The move will affect 139 Fortrex employees, the company said. All affected employees have been notified. Fortrex said eligible workers will be offered transfers to other Fortrex plants in the area.
