MARTINSBURG - Through the first half of Saturday's Class AAAA semifinal playoff game between No. 3 Martinsburg and No. 7 University, the Hawks went toe to toe with the two-time defending champion Bulldogs.
In the second half, though, University was no match for the Martinsburg, as the Bulldogs (11-2) dominated on both sides of the ball in the final two quarters en route to a 44-13 victory, earning a spot in Friday's Class AAAA state championship against Morgantown.
It will be the second meeting between the two teams this year, with Martinsburg winning the regular-season matchup by 28 points.
"They'll present a challenge for us," Martinsburg coach David Walker said.
