MOORHEAD — A thriving, safe and healthy community is at the forefront of the mayor of Moorhead's campaign for a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

During an event on Monday, Dec. 1, Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson announced her plans to run for the House District 4A seat in the Minnesota Legislature in 2026. Carlson said her bid for the seat was not about a personal agenda, but elevating Moorhead’s priorities.

“I’m running for the Minnesota House because I believe in the power of partnership, I believe in collaboration over division, and I believe elected leaders should show up, listen and work relentlessly for the people they represent,” Carlson said.

Carlson is running for the seat as a Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidate.
