HOUSTON – The Transportation Security Administration said Monday that it screened a record 3,133,924 people at airport checkpoints on Sunday, the highest single-day total in the agency’s history, pushing all 10 of the busiest days on record to the last two years.

The milestone came during the peak of the Thanksgiving travel period, part of a surge that has produced eight of the agency’s top 10 busiest days in 2025 and two from 2024, meaning the 10 busiest days ever have occurred in the past two years.

Officials pointed to strong demand after two consecutive heavy travel seasons and an expanded TSA workforce as factors allowing the agency to handle the high volumes.
