A local nonprofit has released another round of research into Tropical Storm Helene’s impact on small farmers.

Asheville-based Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project’s first report, published in May, focused on damage and losses farmers sustained.

In a second part released Nov. 19, it looked at farmers’ experiences of working to get financial assistance and other relief over the six to nine months after the storm.

The report incorporates responses to a survey sent out in April on what kind of support and assistance farmers had requested and received, what obstacles they had encountered and what needs remained.

ASAP staff also talked to farmers one-on-one over the spring and summer.
