HONOLULU (Island News) -- Christmas has come to town — and Honolulu lit up the season in a big way tonight.
The annual Honolulu City Lights opening ceremony kicked off with a block-party-style celebration that had holiday spirits running high.
Hundreds packed the area around Honolulu Hale, arriving as early as sunrise just to secure a spot for the parade. Families brought tents, chairs and potlucks — turning the street into a full-on holiday hangout.
For many, this night is a tradition. For others, it was a first chance to see Christmas sparkle through their children’s eyes.
