JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — A 52-year-old man from Florida pleaded guilty Monday to multiple felonies, including substantial battery and victim intimidation, on the morning his trial was set to begin.
The charges stem from a violent domestic assault incident in Beloit on March 16.
Prosecutors said Aaron Carter was in town for a family funeral when he assaulted his child's mother. He spit on her, punched her more than 30 times, and left her unconscious. Neighbors called 911, and police quickly intervened to arrest Carter and return the child to safety.
While in jail, Carter attempted to intimidate the victim into retracting her statement, according to authorities. Assistant District Attorney Jessica Krejcarek charged him for these actions as well.
