SCHENECTADY — Formidable is the only word to apply to Welsh pianist Llyr Williams' Nov. 23 concert at as part of the Capital Region Classical series.

Not only was his program a series of tour-de-force compositions, but Williams played them all with a seamless effortlessness that kept the large crowd riveted. The long, technical passages rippled along. The melodies were all well sung — often with a gentle, probing touch. The pedaling sustained but never muddied the voices. And supporting it all was a musician who had put much thought into what each composer was trying to say.
