GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Under police questioning, a woman detailed how – and why – she allegedly set her home on fire while her children were inside, a detective testified.

Roconda Singleton told the detective, “She was trying to kill herself and wanted her kids to go with her, so they didn’t have to suffer.”

Singleton, 47, was bound over to Kent County Circuit Court to stand trial for felony murder. The ruling came Monday, Dec. 1, following a hearing that included testimony from three witnesses involved in the investigation.

Singleton is accused of pouring lighter fluid in her home at 956 Eastern Avenue SE and setting it on fire as her three daughters slept inside.
