The St. Albert Fire Department has won the 2025 National Dr. David Green Award as the Fire Department of the Year after raising over $50,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada earlier in the year.

Groups and individuals recognized during the award ceremony showed commitment to improving the lives of Canadians affected by neuromuscular disorders.

12 awards were given out in total to individual firefighters, corporate partners, philanthropists, researchers and more.

To raise funds for the cause, firefighters camped out on the roof of one of the stations, ran a boot drive and a wrap-up party which contained a silent auction and 50/50 draw. The fundraiser took place in late February and early March.
