DU QUOIN, Ill. (KFVS) - Du Quoin State Fair leaders earned national recognition for its work in developing the state fair nature area.

According to a news release from the state of Illinois, the Du Quoin State Fair received first place in the Facility Beautification Project category and second place in the Other Unique Marketing Tactic category from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions.

The beautification project revitalized a cabin, patio and pathway near Main Street and Expo Drive with the addition of 66 native Illinois plants such as Big Bluestem, Purple Coneflower, Bee Balm and Rattlesnake Master, along with signage.
