The Rio Rico girls soccer team fell just short of a title, and three other local squads had productive showings at the third edition of the Time to Fly Soccer Classic last week.
Hosted by Rio Rico High School, the preseason tournament saw 28 teams — 16 boys squads and 12 girls — play 48 matches on two fields over four days. From Nov. 24-26, the teams competed in pool play, with matches running from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. After a day off for Thanksgiving, four boys and four girls semifinalists regrouped to determine the champions. ×
